Key factors in delivering a major project successfully involve a competent workforce working flexibly under a suitable workplace agreement which satisfies both the project proponents and the workforce.
Broman’s target is zero disruption to construction activities resulting from industrial action. This involves early and productive dialogue with the relevant union bodies, to ensure that an agreement is in place between the workforce and their respective employers to cover the construction phase of a project.
Many projects, depending upon size, will benefit from the introduction of a “Project Agreement” covering the on-site construction activities.
Broman personnel have regularly worked closely with union bodies, clients and employer advocate groups to establish a suitable agreement under which a particular project will be constructed. Our personnel have experience in the management of interactions on brown-field sites where construction activities interface with existing operations which have their own specific workplace agreement.
Broman works closely with employer advocates and is supported by close working relationships with legal and non-legal workplace specialists. Key issues in any strategy is to:
| • |
Promote mutual respect between all parties |
| • |
Encourage a culture of safe working accompanied by targeted programs focussed on particular construction activities as a project progresses. |
| • |
Ensure appropriate amenities with a focus on acceptable levels of hygiene |
| • |
Implement regular meetings between the relevant parties to discuss any issues of concern and determine appropriate actions |
